Google Mayday Algorithm Change

It is no secret that Google made a major algorithm change which affected most long tail sites and is causing loss of revenue income.

But what is a site owner to do?

It can be tricky to create credible content and magnetize links to these types of pages. My best proposal to those who have been struck by this is to isolate a set of queries for which the site now is receiving less traffic then search your keywords to see what pages are ranking instead, it would be wise to “spy” on the new highly ranked sites and contemplate on their back links to establish the newly more classified “worthier” links.

What qualities do they have that ranks them more valuable than your site?

For example, I have no way of knowing how amazon.com has fared with this update, what they did do is make individual item pages with duplicated content from manufacturer’s databases unique and convincing by the addition of content like user reviews. They have set up a reasonably vigorous internal linking (“anchor texting”) structure with things like suggested items. Attracting external links through features such as the ‘favorites’ widget.

We discuss matters as such too deep extend on our search engine ranking services blog so why not come educate yourself?
